Francesco Forgione grew up in the Italian village of Pietrelcina. Life in the village was not easy. Francesco did what he could to help his family. When he was a teenager he followed God's calling and entered the Franciscan Order. In 1918 after celebrating Mass, Padre Pio experienced an event which culminated in his bearing the wounds of Jesus, the stigmata. Pope John Paul II canonized Padre Pio in 2002. Paperback, 22 chapters (ranging from 2-6 pages), prayer and glossary, 112 pages. Ages 7-12.
