Ignatius served in the royal Spanish army during the early 1500's. Wounded in battle and not expected to live, Ignatius dreamed St. Peter touched him and healed his wounds. When he awoke, Ignatius was healed! He was so affected by this miracle that he began to read books about the life of Christ and the saints. These stories inspired him, and he gave up his life as a soldier to become a soldier for Jesus. He founded the Society of Jesus in 1534, which was devoted to the service fo the Church and the salvation of souls. The Jesuits, as members of the Society of Jesus are called, soon spread the teachings if Ignatius around the world. Paperback, 18 chapters, prayer and glossary, 105 pages. Ages 7-12.
